Coal Money 2009
Plot Synopsis
Wang Bing, China's premier documentarian, has studied the decline of Shenyang's industrial core (West Of The Tracks), the personal impact of the post-war years and the Cultural Revolution (Fengming: A Chinese Memoir) and the brutality of hard labour (Crude Oil). In a change of pace from his traditionally exhaustive work, Coal Money turns a dispassionate camera on Inner Mongolia's unregulated coal mining and sales industry as we follow one mining crew in its attempts to unload a batch of the precious resource without state support or a fixed marketplace.
